Rules 1.9(a) and 1.18(c) address conflicts involving representing a current client with interests that are 'materially adverse' to the interests of a former client or prospective client on the same or a substantially related matter.
"Much has been written about Boone ... But the heart of the story, this tapestry, is Boone’s continued perseverance and push to move things forward."
Because those orientations remain ominously omnipresent in our country 60 years after the Freedom Rides, it is incumbent upon all of us to take a lesson from the courage of 1961 and continue to metaphorically “ride buses” for freedom, and battle the scourge of racism that has haunted the U.S. since slavery.
