Once again, citizens find themselves at a crossroad as they are forced to examine their conscience, beliefs, and behaviors surrounding race. Members of the legal community must go a step further, to also examine the ongoing and troubling relationship between the criminal justice system and race.
During the holidays, the tendency to overindulge is natural and rational, given the goodwill and sense of accomplishment that come with each holiday season.
As the election has come to a close, one thing is clear – lawyers are leading the way. The White House will welcome two attorneys: President-elect Joe Biden, who early in his career worked as a public defender, and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, a former prosecutor and Attorney General of California.
An attorney’s end-of-year goal should be to not leave any money on the table.
